Thong Yot Recipe - A Traditional Thai Dessert

Make Delicious Thong Yot with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 8 egg yolks

  • 2 cups of water

  • 1 cup of palm sugar

  • 1/4 cup of jasmine water

  • 1/4 cup of tapioca flour

  • 1/4 cup of rice flour

  • 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, tapioca flour, rice flour, and vegetable oil until the mixture is smooth.

  2. In a small pot, bring the water and palm sugar to a boil over medium heat. Stir until the sugar dissolves, then remove from heat.

  3. In a large pot, bring a pot of water to a boil. Using a thimble or a small spoon, scoop up small droplets of the egg yolk mixture and drop them into the boiling water. Cook for 1-2 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove the egg yolk droplets with a slotted spoon and place them in a bowl of cold water to cool.

  4. Once the egg yolk droplets are cool, strain them and add them to the pot of palm sugar syrup. Simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the syrup thickens.

  5. Add the jasmine water to the pot and simmer for another 5 minutes.

  6. Remove from heat and let cool.

  7. Serve Thong Yot in small bowls with a ladle of syrup over the top.

  8. Enjoy It!
