Make Delicious Sushi with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups sushi rice

  • 2 cups water

  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • Nori seaweed sheets

  • Assorted fillings (e.g. avocado, cucumber, cooked shrimp, smoked salmon, etc.)

  • Soy sauce

  • Wasabi

  • Pickled ginger

Serves:

  • Makes 4-6 rolls (approximately 32-48 pieces)

Instructions:

  1. Rinse the sushi rice in a strainer until the water runs clear. Place the rice and water in a rice cooker or pot and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions.

  2. In a small saucepan, combine the rice vinegar, sugar, and salt. Heat until the sugar and salt dissolve, then let cool.

  3. Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and add the vinegar mixture. Gently fold the vinegar mixture into the rice with a wooden spoon or spatula until it's evenly distributed.

  4. Lay a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat. Wet your hands and spread a thin layer of rice over the nori, leaving a small border at the top edge.

  5. Add your chosen fillings to the rice, arranging them in a line across the middle of the rice.

  6. Use the bamboo mat to roll the sushi tightly, starting from the bottom edge. Use the border at the top edge to seal the roll.

  7. Repeat with the remaining nori sheets and rice.

  8. Slice the sushi rolls into bite-sized pieces and serve with soy sauce, wasabi, and pickled ginger.
