Make Mouthwatering Shaabiyat with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 1 package of phyllo dough

  • 1 cup of heavy cream

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1 cup of sugar

  • 1/2 cup of water

  • 1/4 cup of cornstarch

  • 1/4 cup of butter, melted

  • 1/2 cup of pistachios, chopped

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, milk, and sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.

  3. In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch with 1/4 cup of water until smooth. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and stir until the mixture thickens.

  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let it cool.

  5. Cut the phyllo dough into squares and brush each square with melted butter.

  6. Place one square of phyllo dough on top of another and repeat until you have four layers.

  7. Place a spoonful of the cream mixture in the center of each phyllo square and fold the edges over to form a triangle.

  8. Repeat the process until all the phyllo squares are used up.

  9. Place the Shaabiyat on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown.

  10. In a small saucepan, combine the remaining 1/4 cup of water and 1/4 cup of sugar. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring constantly until the sugar is dissolved.

  11. Remove the Shaabiyat from the oven and drizzle the sweet syrup over the top. Sprinkle chopped pistachios on top of the syrup.

  12. Serve the Shaabiyat warm or at room temperature, and enjoy!
