Make Delicious Okonomiyaki with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups water

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 head of cabbage, thinly sliced

  • 5-6 green onions, thinly sliced

  • 1/2 cup Tenkasu (tempura scraps)

  • 1/2 cup shrimp or squid, chopped (optional)

  • 1/2 cup sliced pork belly or bacon (optional)

  • 1/2 cup okonomiyaki sauce

  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise

  • 1/4 cup Aonori (dried green seaweed flakes)

  • 1/4 cup Katsuobushi (dried bonito flakes)

Instructions:

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and water until the mixture is smooth.

  2. Add the eggs to the mixture and whisk until well combined.

  3. Add the cabbage, green onions, Tenkasu, and optional ingredients (shrimp/squid and pork belly/bacon) to the bowl and mix until evenly distributed.

  4. Heat a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.

  5. Add a small amount of oil to the skillet and spread it around to coat the bottom.

  6. Pour a ladleful of the batter onto the skillet, using a spatula to shape it into a round pancake shape.

  7. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, until the pancake, is golden brown and crispy.

  8. Drizzle okonomiyaki sauce and mayonnaise over the top of the pancake.

  9. Sprinkle Aonori and Katsuobushi over the top of the pancake.

  10. Serve hot. Enjoy it!
