Crispy British Fish and Chips Recipe - The Perfect Meal for Any Occasion!

Fish and chips is a classic British dish enjoyed for centuries. The crispy golden battered fish and perfectly cooked chips make a delicious and satisfying meal. In this recipe, we will show you how to make authentic British fish and chips right in your own kitchen. This recipe is easy to follow and will have you enjoying a taste of England in no time!


Make delicious Fish and Chips with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 500gr cod or haddock fillets, cut into portions

  • 500gr potatoes peeled and cut into thick chips

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 tsp paprika

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 cup beer (lager or ale)

  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Time of Preparing:

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes

  • Cook Time: 15-20 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, paprika, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.

  2. Gradually pour in the beer, whisking until you have a smooth batter.

  3. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot until it reaches 375°F (190°C).

  4. Dip each piece of fish into the batter, making sure it is fully coated.

  5. Gently lower the fish into the hot oil and fry for 5-6 minutes, until the batter is crispy and golden brown.

  6. Remove the fish from the oil with a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  7. While the fish is frying, parboil the chips for 3-4 minutes in salted boiling water. Drain them and let them cool and dry.

  8. Increase the heat of the oil to 400°F (200°C).

  9. Fry the chips for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy.

  10. Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.

  11. Serve the fish and chips with your favorite sides and enjoy!
