Ingredients:
500gr cod or haddock fillets, cut into portions
500gr potatoes peeled and cut into thick chips
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 cup beer (lager or ale)
Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:
Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, paprika, and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.
Gradually pour in the beer, whisking until you have a smooth batter.
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot until it reaches 375°F (190°C).
Dip each piece of fish into the batter, making sure it is fully coated.
Gently lower the fish into the hot oil and fry for 5-6 minutes, until the batter is crispy and golden brown.
Remove the fish from the oil with a slotted spoon and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
While the fish is frying, parboil the chips for 3-4 minutes in salted boiling water. Drain them and let them cool and dry.
Increase the heat of the oil to 400°F (200°C).
Fry the chips for 3-4 minutes or until golden and crispy.
Remove the chips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil.
