Ingredients:

  • 500gr elbow macaroni

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 4 cups whole milk

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

  • 1/4 tsp paprika

  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. Cook macaroni in salted boiling water according to package directions, then drain and set aside.

  3. In a separate pot, melt butter over medium heat and whisk in flour to make a roux. Cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture turns a light golden color, then gradually whisk in milk until smooth.

  4. Stir in salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Bring the mixture to a simmer and cook for 2-3 minutes until it thickens.

  5. Remove the pot from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until it melts and the mixture is smooth.

  6. Add the cooked macaroni to the cheese sauce and stir until well-coated.

  7. Pour the mac and cheese mixture into the prepared baking dish and sprinkle the top with additional shredded cheese and breadcrumbs, if desired.

  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until the top is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  9. Let the mac and cheese cool for a few minutes before serving.
