Classic British Bangers and Mash Recipe: Comfort Food at its Best

Bangers and Mash is a traditional British dish that's perfect for a cozy night in. This comforting meal consists of sausages and mashed potatoes, all topped with a rich onion gravy. Follow this simple recipe to create the perfect Bangers and Mash at home.


Make delicious Bangers and Mash with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 8 British-style sausages

  • 4 large potatoes

  • 1/2 cup milk

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced

  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups beef or chicken broth

  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Time of Preparing:

  • Approximately 45 minutes

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C.

  2. Place the sausages on a baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes, flipping them halfway through.

  3. Meanwhile, peel the potatoes and cut them into small chunks. Place them in a pot of salted water and bring them to a boil. Cook for 15-20 minutes or until the potatoes are tender.

  4. Drain the potatoes and add the milk and butter. Mash until smooth and creamy. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and cook for 5-7 minutes or until they are caramelized.

  6. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir to combine. Slowly pour in the broth and Worcestershire sauce, stirring constantly. Bring to a simmer and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the gravy has thickened.

  7. Serve the sausages and mashed potatoes on a plate and top with the onion gravy. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
