Make Mouthwatering Banana Pudding with Kitchen Pal

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 4 cups whole milk

  • 4 large egg yolks

  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract

  • 1 box vanilla wafers

  • 4 ripe bananas, sliced

  • Whipped cream (optional)

Time of Preparing:

Instructions:

  1. In a medium saucepan, whisk together the sugar, flour, and salt. Gradually whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth.

  2. Cook the mixture over medium heat, whisking constantly, until it thickens and comes to a boil (about 10-15 minutes).

  3. Continue to cook and whisk for 2 more minutes, then remove from heat.

  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg yolks until smooth. Gradually whisk in about 1 cup of the hot milk mixture, then pour the egg mixture back into the saucepan with the remaining milk mixture, whisking constantly.

  5. Return the saucepan to medium heat and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the pudding has thickened. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  6. In a 9x13 inch baking dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and pudding mixture. Repeat the layers, ending with a layer of pudding on top.

  7. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) until chilled.

  8. Serve the banana pudding chilled with whipped cream on top, if desired.
