Authentic Italian Lasagna Recipe - Layers of Pasta, Meat, and Cheese

Make Delicious Lasagna with Kitchen Pal


Ingredients:

  • 500g of lasagna noodles

  • 500g of ground beef

  • 1 onion, chopped

  • 3 cloves of garlic, minced

  • 1 can of crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)

  • 2 cans of tomato sauce (15 ounces each)

  • 1 teaspoon of dried basil

  • 1 teaspoon of dried oregano

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper

  • 2 cups of ricotta cheese

  • 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese

  • 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 egg

  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

  3. In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Add the onion and garlic and cook until softened.

  4. Add the crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15 minutes.

  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 1 1/2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, and egg. Mix well.

  6. Spread a thin layer of the meat sauce in the bottom of a 22x33cm baking dish. Layer lasagna noodles, meat sauce, and cheese mixture on top. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of meat sauce on top.

  7. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

  8. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes.

  9. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 25 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

  10. Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.

  11. Enjoy your meal!
